My Website WPJA

Greetings all and welcome to my world. My name is Bruce Mayhill and I am the owner, lead photographer, and head dishwasher of Mayhill Photo. Here you will be able to get a chance to see photos from recent weddings and portrait sessions as well as see what sort of ridiculous things I am up to in my personal life.

I recently moved to Concord, NC (just outside of Charlotte) from Los Angeles, CA. My lungs are still getting used to the fresh air while my wife is still getting used to the possibility of snow! I am primarily a wedding photographer and my recipe for great wedding photography is a carefully crafted formula consisting of the following: a documentary approach, a touch of traditionalism (so as to appease Grandma!), and fashion shoot attitude. This is all touched off with a mild-spicy dash of insanity. Fasten your seatbelt, this is not going to be a boring ride!

Our First Workshop...

Our first workshop was a huge success!

I flew back to the midwest last week to join my partner-in-crime Shawn Reimers for our first workshop on wedding photography. We had a great (big) crowd of very enthusiastic photographers from all over the mid-west and some awesome, awesome models. The models were actually some of Shawn's former wedding clients!

We have had requests to do many more so we are in the process of planning a small tour for 2009. Who knows, we may just end up in your backyard!

There will be more information available soon or if you have questions, just drop me a line.

I have attached a few images below.

And this final one was shot by Diana Ornes out of Wisconsin. It pretty much sums up the day!

Finally Home...

I had a fantastic trip to Jamaica for Sara and Richard's wedding and then to the midwest for the workshop that Shawn Reimers and I put together (and what a turn-out we had there).

I have soooooo much to post and now that I am done traveling for a while, I will finally have an opportunity to post some weddings and get some stuff done. It is always a great opportunity to do a destination wedding but sleeping in your own bed is a real treat after a while.

There will be a ton of goodies posted here in the next few days so stay tuned. And, special thanks to everyone that participated in the workshop. I hope you learned a thing or two and had some fun as well!

Jamaica, Mon!

So, I am in Jamaica right now to photograph a wedding and I can't say that it sucks. The nice folks at the resort have been fantastic. The food has been good and I have a fridge full of beer, juice, soda, and more beer.

We went snorkeling yesterday and that was a good time too. The wedding is this evening and I have been running around the resort today looking for some awesome photo spots. Let me just say that there are a ton of them everywhere!

Below are a few random photos from my little point-and-shoot.

This is the view from my room. Like i said, it doesn't suck.

With a complimentary cocktail in hand, even the elevator looks good.

The pool. Gotta love the swim-up bar at the far end.

Or, if you are lucky enough, you can have the bar come to you!

And finally...working hard. As always!

Off to Jamaica!

Well, I am sitting at the airport right now waiting for my plane to start boarding. I fly to Ft. Lauderdale and then on to Montego Bay. By the looks of things, this is gonna be a packed flight. At least it is only a few hours long. I do have a bit of a lay-over there as well but perhaps I will be able to get some work done.

Which brings me to another thing...

I do have several weddings that have yet to be blogged and if you are one of those people, your day is coming very soon. I should get a chance to get some images posted while I am out of town so you will all have some more goodies to look at very soon.

Jamaica should be a grand time. Really cool couple and no weather issues in the very near future. Let's hope it stays that way.

More from the Island...
