My Website WPJA

Greetings all and welcome to my world. My name is Bruce Mayhill and I am the owner, lead photographer, and head dishwasher of Mayhill Photo. Here you will be able to get a chance to see photos from recent weddings and portrait sessions as well as see what sort of ridiculous things I am up to in my personal life.

I recently moved to Concord, NC (just outside of Charlotte) from Los Angeles, CA. My lungs are still getting used to the fresh air while my wife is still getting used to the possibility of snow! I am primarily a wedding photographer and my recipe for great wedding photography is a carefully crafted formula consisting of the following: a documentary approach, a touch of traditionalism (so as to appease Grandma!), and fashion shoot attitude. This is all touched off with a mild-spicy dash of insanity. Fasten your seatbelt, this is not going to be a boring ride!

Packed and ready to go...

Well, it is that time of year again.

Actually, it is about a month before that time of year again but nonethless...WPPI (the convention) is about to begin. This the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International convention that happens every year around this time. This is a HUGE educational convention and trade show that draws photographers from all over the world. (Special thank you goes out to Skip Cohen and the entire crew. Thanks so much for the great job that you do!)

As always, it is in Las Vegas. Now, I am not much of a gambling man so that is not a real issue but I will get a chance to go to both In-n-Out for a burger (yummy) and Cappriotti's for a sandwich (holy crap). If you happen to be reading this, please don't tell my wife, she loves both of these places.

And yes...I will post some food photos to follow up with this post. Get the napkins ready!

Woof...

I would imagine that most of you do not realize that my photography career began with pet photography in Los Angeles.

I love photographing dogs as they are so much fun to watch a play with and Miss Olive was no different. She is a huge goofball and was a ton of fun.

Thanks for slobbering on me Olive!

Now, I do have to go on record and say that while I have never had a "Dogzilla," I have also never been bitten by a bride. Of course, the day is young! Have a great day everyone.

Charleston Rocked...(thanks Shane!)

The workshop with Shane Snider was a great time. Not only was it fun, but I actually learned something and am grateful that we didn't get arrested. But, as is always the case, it was good to come home. My wife and my three dogs actually recognized me when I came through the door last night!

Here are a few photos from the workshop:
